12 x 24 oil on canvas
The Stars Hold Us reflects on connection, wonder, and our place within something far larger than ourselves. A magpie reaches toward a field of stars, drawn upward into a vastness that feels both distant and strangely intimate.
The night sky can make us aware of our smallness, yet it also reminds us that we are not separate from what we see. The same elements that form stars, planets, and distant worlds are present within our own bodies. What appears impossibly far away is, in another sense, already part of us.
The magpie becomes a small intermediary between the earthly and the infinite. Curious and attentive, it reaches toward something it cannot possess or fully understand. Its gesture is less about grasping the stars than participating in the mystery of them.
The Stars Hold Us considers the comfort found within that vastness. We may be small, temporary creatures beneath an immense sky, but we are not outside of it. We belong to the same unfolding universe, held within something immeasurably larger than ourselves.
